About Uppies

Uppies are the digital residents of Upland — the characters who live in the world you and other Architects are building. They move into neighborhoods, settle into homes, work in offices, and shape the life of every city on the map. Most Uppies go about their pixelated days quietly, but a few have started to notice things: streets appearing overnight, a sense that something is watching, a quiet suspicion that their world isn't entirely natural. They've even come up with a name for the unseen forces shaping it. They call them "The Architects." They're right. Find out more about the Uppies lore here.

What you should know first

  • They are the scoreboard. Uppies measure how good a neighborhood actually is. Your Resident Score is your standing.
  • They have preferences. Some want cafés. Some want gardens. Some want a courthouse on the corner.
  • They level up. From Level 1 (common) to Level 10 (rare), and beyond to Iconic Parody Uppies (IPUs).
  • They speak about themselves in the third person. A small but defining detail. "Scout walked past 5th Street this morning."

Levels, Merging & IPUs

Uppies enter your collection at Level 1. From there, merging compounds them into rarer residents — all the way to the Star-Level Iconic Parody Uppies.

  • Levels 1 to 4 — multiple mints exist of each Uppie.
  • Levels 5 and above — one of a kind. Each Uppie at this level is unique.
  • Level 10 — the top of the standard tier.
  • Star Level (IPU) — created by merging two Level 10 Uppies. The rarest tier in Upland.

How merging works

  1. Select two Uppies of the same level from your collection.
  2. Confirm the merge (this permanently burns both source Uppies).
  3. Receive one Uppie one level higher.
  4. Every merge is a decision. Higher-level Uppies deliver the strongest bonuses when employed at your service structures — feeding directly into your Resident Score.

Property Assignment & Automation

Uppies aren't just collectibles — they can go to work.

  • Level 3 and higher: You can assign Uppies to one of your properties. Once assigned, they automatically care for the plants there (petting), though you're still responsible for feeding them.
  • Level 5 and higher: Uppies assigned to a property also automatically collect Troves from its plants each day, on a separate daily limit from your own personal collection cap.
  • Level 5 and higher: Uppies can also be employed at eligible service structures — contributing to that structure's level and automatically collecting Troves there too.
  • An assigned or employed Uppie becomes unavailable for merging, sale, or swap while it's working. If you sell or swap the property it's assigned to, the Uppie stays with you.
  • Manage assignments from a property card: Manage → Assign Uppie, or check all your assignments under Asset Wallet → Uppies.

Put simply: leveling up your Uppies doesn't just make them rarer — it makes them useful. Higher levels unlock more automation, freeing you to focus on the parts of Upland you enjoy most.
