Reading the Map
The map is your home screen
The game happens here. Architects see a lot of information on the map that can be a little jarring at first. A major part of familiarizing yourself with Upland is learning what all the icons and symbols represent.
Take a look at the numbered items in the image and use the key below for brief explanations.

Map Key
- This shows the player's current Block Explorer, username, and progress bar toward the next level up.
- The arrow below the User Icon will take players back to the last Send location.
- This shows the player's current UPX balance.
- This icon sends players to the Upland Store.
- This Challenge/Trove icon opens an active, time-sensitive Challenge. Note: These events are not always live, and the icon will not be shown while inactive.
- This icon sends players to the Events page, where Upland posts activity and feature updates. (We highly recommend keeping tabs to catch news and events.)
- Sometimes there are special time-sensitive events or store promotions shown by a unique icon. Click/tap on the icon for event details.
- This opens Upland's native in-game Chat.
- Use this icon to jump directly to your Block Explorer's current location.
- Use this button to open the Quick Menu.
- This icon toggles a view that outlines city neighborhoods.
- This icon opens a menu that shows nearby properties for sale in your current map view. Zoom out/in to widen or narrow your search.
- This opens a search tool where you can plug in a specific address to jump to the location.
- These are Block Explorers. You can see your Block Explorer as well as other players' Block Explorers.
- Green dots represent properties for sale by another player.
- Orange dots represent player-owned Metaventures.
Getting familiar with core elements
- Block Explorer. Your character on the map. Wanders cities automatically. You can direct it manually using a "Send".
- UPX balance. Top right. Your in-game currency for buying and trading properties.
- Store. Buy UPX, SPARKLET, STEM, structures, vehicles, and seeds.
- Events icon. Active in-game events. Worth checking — many drops and contests are time-limited.
- Property colors. Bright green = unminted (claim to be first owner). Dark green = on the secondary market. Blue = owned, not listed. Yellow accent on green = FSA (Fair Start Act), reserved for newer players.
Note: Start by tapping a bright green or FSA property to see its price and yield. FSA properties are cheaper and reserved for newer players — make use of them while you can.
