The Score System and Census
Resident Score
This is the headline number. It tracks how many Uppies actually live on your properties. Updates every 24 hours. Visible on the Census, on your profile, and on every property card.
What drives it
- Living Units (residential structures): more capacity, more residents.
- Service coverage in the neighborhood (essentials, health, public service, entertainment).
- Quality of service structures (higher-level Uppies employed there deliver bigger bonuses).
- Commerce Score of the neighborhood.
- Greenery, vehicles, transportation, and general appeal.
Resident Score is the visible output of every other system in the game.
Influence Score
is the forward-looking partner to Resident Score. It measures how attractive your neighborhoods are to potential residents.
Why both scores matter
- Resident Score tells you who lives there now.
- Influence Score tells you whether they'll keep coming.
A high Influence Score with a low Resident Score signals an emerging neighborhood. A low Influence Score with a high Resident Score signals one that's about to lose residents. The
Commerce Score
The commerce score reflects the economic strength of a neighborhood. It rewards Architects who build connections, not just buildings.
What feeds it
- Office Structures placed in the neighborhood.
- Mutual bonds with other neighborhoods (reciprocal office placements between two players).
- Unique mutual bonds — the more different players participate, the stronger the network.
- Balanced bonds — bonds are strongest when both sides contribute evenly.
Strong Commerce Scores attract Uppies seeking employment, which in turn feeds directly into the Resident Score. Bonds also prepare your neighborhood for Trade Routes (covered in the Race, Explore & Move section).
The Census
is the public dashboard. Every neighborhood, every city, every score — visible to every Architect. It's how you spot opportunities and benchmark your progress. You can
- browse Upland's real-time population.
- compare neighborhoods by Resident, Influence, and Commerce Scores.
- see which neighborhoods are growing fastest and which are losing residents.
- find your own city or neighborhood's standing.
