Uppie Quests Are Coming: Turn Troves Into New Friends

Troves are about to unlock much more than collecting.

After Troves, Trove Banking, and Upland Progression launch, the next major piece of Upland’s connected gameplay loop will arrive: Uppie Quests.

Uppie Quests will send players across the map to gather Troves, complete recipes, and earn the special Friend Request Troves needed to befriend new Uppies. They will also give developed properties, Residents, assigned Uppies, plants, and service structures more ways to matter together.

The loop is taking shape: develop properties, collect Troves, choose what to craft or bank, complete Uppie Quests, and befriend more Uppies who cansupport your properties and Trove strategy.

Troves arrive first. Uppie Quests follow. Here is your first look at how the systems connect.

Find Uppie Quests Across the Map

As you explore Upland, you will be able to discover properties offering Uppie Quests. When an Uppie Card appears above a property, a quest is waiting there.

While property assignment began with Level 3 and higher Uppies, the Uppie Quest rollout is planned to open property assignment to Uppies across all levels.

To be eligible to spawn an Uppie Quest, a property must have both Residents and an assigned Uppie. Uppies of any level can fulfill the Uppie requirement, from Level 1 all the way up. Having both Residents and an assigned Uppie makes a property eligible to spawn quests, although an eligible property will not necessarily have a quest available at all times.

All assigned Uppies can participate in the Uppie Quest system. The difference is what else they can do on a property. For Level 1 and Level 2 Uppies, Uppie Quest participation will be their only property utility. Higher-level Uppies can also participate in Uppie Quests while retaining their additional abilities, such as caring for plants and, for eligible Uppies, and eventually automatically collecting Troves.

There will also be benefits for property owners when other players select an Uppie Quest from their property. We’ll share more about how those benefits work, along with additional details on quest availability, as we get closer to launch.

From Trove Hunting to Uppie Questing

Every Uppie Quest is a mission built around a request from an Uppie.

Maybe an Uppie is craving breakfast and asks you to bring back a croissant and coffee. Gather the requested Troves, turn them in to complete the Uppie Quest, and see what you receive.

Completing an Uppie Quest gives you a chance to receive a Friend Request Trove, but it isn’t guaranteed. You may receive other items instead, making each completed quest a chance to earn the Friend Request Troves you’ll need to befriend new Uppies.

These special Troves are one of the key ingredients required to befriend new Uppies, and Uppie Quests will be the primary way to earn them.

This is where the larger Trove system becomes even more strategic. As previously announced, Troves can serve different purposes across Upland:

  • Use Troves in crafting recipes and Uppie Quests.
  • Exchange eligible Troves for items or rewards when opportunities are available.
  • Permanently bank selected Troves in your Trove Vault to advance Trove Banking levels and contribute to Upland Progression.

Banked Troves cannot be withdrawn or used elsewhere, so collecting is only the beginning. Players will decide what to spend, what to craft with, and what to preserve permanently as part of their Upland history.

Properties, Plants, Service Structures, and Uppies Feed the Loop

Uppie Quests do not sit beside Troves as a separate feature. They give the Troves you collect another purpose while strengthening the systems that help produce them.

As previously announced:

  • Healthy plants can improve the potential for more Trove drops and rarer Troves.
  • Level 3 and higher Uppies assigned to properties can care for plants when players keep them fed.
  • Level 5 and higher Uppies are planned to automatically collect Troves from plants on assigned properties.
  • Level 5 and higher Uppies can also be employed at eligible service structures, where they contribute to structure levels and can automate Trove collection.
  • Higher service-structure levels can unlock better Trove drops from recipes.
  • Automated collection by Uppies uses a separate daily limit from a player’s personal collection cap, allowing active play and Uppie automation to work together.

That creates a connected cycle: develop properties and service structures, keep plants healthy, put Uppies to work, collect more useful Troves, complete more recipes and quests, and earn the Friend Request Troves needed to grow your Uppie collection.

Three Quests at a Time

Players can maintain up to three active Uppie Quests at once.

Once all three quest slots are occupied, you will need to complete or dismiss an active quest before accepting another. If you discover a quest you would rather pursue, you can dismiss one to make room.

Some quests may also be time-limited, giving you a set window to gather the required Troves and complete the recipe.

Choose carefully. The quest you take, the Troves it requires, and the Friend Request Trove it rewards can all shape what you pursue next.

Friend Request Troves and Befriending Uppies

Completing Uppie Quests rewards Friend Request Troves, with multiple levels available.

Higher-level Friend Request Troves can help you befriend higher-level Uppies, but earning them will require more demanding quests. Lower-level quests may use simpler recipes and more common Troves. Higher-level quests can require more complex recipes and potentially rarer Troves.

When it is time to befriend an Uppie, a befriending recipe can call for a combination of inputs, including:

  • Friend Request Troves
  • Other Troves
  • UPX
  • Sparklet

Provide the required inputs, complete the recipe, and a newly befriended Uppie can join your collection.

That makes Friend Request Troves the bridge between the Troves you gather today and the Uppies you hope to meet tomorrow.

Uppies across all levels can potentially become available to befriend when the required Uppies are available in Merge inventory. That means befriending recipes will not always be available on demand.

Availability may change over time. Some recipes could appear during specific parts of a season, be announced in advance, remain available for longer periods, or become temporarily unavailable until inventory is replenished.

Your Friend Request Troves can prepare you for the opportunity. Merge inventory determines which friendships can be forged at that moment.

We will share more about befriending availability as the system rolls out.

Why Build a Bigger Uppie Collection?

Uppies are becoming active participants in Upland’s property and Trove economy.

They can be assigned to properties. Eligible Uppies can care for plants. Higher-level Uppies are planned to collect Troves automatically from properties and service structures. Employed Uppies can help level up eligible service structures. Uppies can be traded, offer quests, and become new friends through the befriending system.

And there is more personality on the way. Uppies are planned to appear in 3D, including on the map, and some may exist as truly unique one-of-one Uppies, similar to the Dragon Mama Uppie previously previewed.

Every new Uppie can expand how you develop properties, pursue Troves, complete quests, and express your place in Upland.

Troves First. Uppie Quests Next.

Troves establish the foundation: collect across Upland, craft with what you find, permanently bank what you want to preserve, build your Trove Vault, and advance your Upland Progression.

Uppie Quests build on that foundation by turning Troves into missions, recipes, Friend Request Troves, and eventually new Uppies. Those Uppies can then return value to properties, plants, service structures, and future quests.

This is the connected Upland taking shape, with properties at the center and more of what you own, build, collect, and develop working together.

Find the quests. Gather the Troves. Complete the recipes. Befriend the Uppies. Put them to work.

Stay tuned for more details as Troves launch and the arrival of Uppie Quests gets closer.
