Redesigning the Upland Store for the Future of Building

We’re excited to announce a full redesign of the Upland Store, a foundationalshift that makes the store more than a quick stop. With a modern layout, permanent categories, and room for growth, the store is becoming a core part of your gameplay loop, as essential as the map or property list.

This update will support the long-term needs of Upland’s evolving player base and creates the infrastructure needed to offer more consistent, useful content, especially for players who build with UPX.

This major overhaul is being worked on now and will launch in the coming months, laying the groundwork for a more dynamic and player-focused future.

More Than a Redesign, a Rebuild for the Future

The current store, built around static tabs and scheduled sales, limits what we can offer. It’s been reliable but not flexible, and that’s holding Upland back.

The new storefront changes that. With clickable categories and a more dynamic layout, we can finally offer a wider range of items, not just rotating drops but permanent fixtures. Players will be able to browse, plan, and revisit the store like they would any other part of the game, with tools and options that stick around.

This new structure also enables something we’ve long aimed for. Over time, players will see a growing selection of UPX-based items permanently availablein the store. These will include service structures, residential units, and more, giving UPX deeper and more reliable utility across the game.

Instead of waiting on a drop or rushing before a timer runs out, players will be able to build and plan with confidence, knowing that key items are not going anywhere.

Aligning with Upland’s Vision

At the center of this store redesign is a major shift in how residential structures are accessed and built in Upland. Over the next few weeks, the following standard residential structures will move into the Upland Store as permanent blueprints, available for purchase with UPX or USD. These are part of what we’re calling Standard Blueprints, essential structures that will remain available in the store at all times.

In contrast, certain visually unique or premium structures will be released as Limited Blueprints, which are typically available for a limited time or through special events. These two blueprint categories will help clearly distinguish between always-available builds and more exclusive designs as Upland continues to grow.

Factories and Showrooms will remain available by default for now, but will transition into the Upland Store as blueprints in the future after the new store launches. When that happens, players will have a similar limited-time opportunity to acquire them for 1 UPX each before they move to standard pricing. Until then, these essential service structures will continue to function as they do today, with no changes to access or build requirements.

This change is key to our long-term vision. Upland continues to evolve around property development, city infrastructure, and resident-driven growth. To support that, we need a system that is not only fair and consistent, but also scalable for the future.

Today’s structure system is a mix of defaults, asset wallet items, and special unlocks. While it worked early on, it has become increasingly confusing for new players and difficult to scale as we add new building types, map assets, vehicles and construction features, such as High Rises and the soon to be announced Destination Structures and Offices.

By moving standard residentials into the Store as blueprints, we’re doing two important things:

  • Simplifying access for all players. Everyone will know exactly where and how to unlock building types. Players will start with the Micro House and One Small Townhouse by default, and can browse and unlock additional structures through the Store at their own pace.
  • Creating a foundation for future growth. This blueprint system sets the stage for Upland’s next phase. With the Construction Hub on the way, we’re moving toward a model where most structures must be unlocked through blueprints or built via the Hub, with only a few defaults available to new players.

This creates a scalable system for introducing new structure types, reinforces the value of UPX, and gives players more control over how they build and grow across Upland.

Blueprint ownership makes it clear: if you own the blueprint, you can build it. Just like service structures, each residential blueprint only needs to be purchased once and can then be used to construct as many of that structure as you’d like, as long as you meet the build requirements.

This improves transparency, supports player progression, and gives us a cleaner system for introducing new mechanics and items tied to construction and development.

Blueprint Access for Current Players

We understand that many players already use these residentials, and it might seem natural to expect access to carry over. However, the way our systems are currently built doesn’t allow us to automatically grant blueprints to existing accounts.

These structures are moving into the Store as part of a preparatory step toward the future Store redesign, which will launch in the coming months. The structure move will happen in the next few weeks, and we’ll announce the exact timing ahead of the transition.

As part of this change, once the blueprints are added to the Store, current players will lose the ability to build these structures unless they own the corresponding blueprint. To make this shift fair and accessible, we’re offering a limited-time opportunity.

Once the update goes live, all current players will have the entire remainingFrost Season to purchase each standard residential blueprint for just 1 UPX. This is a one-time opportunity to reclaim full build access at minimal cost before the new Storefront interface launches.

After Frost Season ends, the blueprints will remain in the Store as permanent items, but will return to standard UPX pricing.

This initial move only applies to standard residential structures. Any custom or special residentials earned through city releases, contests, or evolution packs will remain in your wallet and will not be moved to the Store.

The following blueprints will move:

  • Ranch House
  • Luxury Modern House
  • Luxury Ranch House
  • Apartment Building
  • 2nd Small Town House
  • Town House

Earn the Early Adopter Badge

Players who collect the full set of standard residential blueprints before the end of Frost Season will earn the exclusive Early Adopter badge. This one-time reward honors the players who took initiative and helped lead the transition into Upland’s next chapter of construction.

This is the only opportunity to earn the Early Adopter badge. It will not return in future seasons.

Being an early adopter means you saw the direction Upland is headed and acted on it. It marks you as someone who helped shape the systems that will support builders for years to come. If you’ve been active, this is your moment. And if you know players who’ve been away, now is the time to bring them back and let them know about the change and opportunity to get the badge.

The Early Adopter badge is more than a cosmetic item. It is proof that you were ahead of the curve and ready to build what’s next.

What to Expect Going Forward

The Upland Store redesign is more than a visual refresh. It is a foundational upgrade that makes the store a consistent and reliable part of gameplay. With permanent blueprints, more UPX-based options, and room for future expansion, the store will support builders year-round, not just during timed events.

This update gives players more control, more variety, and a stronger connection between building and long-term value. Neighborhoods will grow with greater depth and creativity, and the store will play a key role in how cities evolve across Upland.

Launching in the coming months, the new store marks a shift toward a more stable, accessible, and player-driven future. It is no longer just a place to grab limited-time items. It is becoming a core part of how Upland grows, one build at a time.
