Life Phase 2 First Look: A Growing World That Responds to Your Care

Phase 1 of Life established the groundwork for what a living ecosystem could become within Upland. Seeds appeared, Sparklet Spend took shape, and the earliest roots of Life began forming beneath the soil. But for Uppies, this was only the calm before something much bigger. They sensed potential gathering under the surface, waiting for the world around them to finally begin growing.

Phase 2 is that moment. This development update offers an early look at what is coming as properties across Upland shift from static spaces into environments filled with plants that require attention, respond to your care, and help shape the neighborhoods Uppies will want to live in.

These systems build directly on Upland’s core pillars of property ownership, development, and a player-driven economy, adding a living layer that enhances both the character and strategic value of the world.

Why Uppies Love Life

Uppies are drawn to places that feel cared for and alive. They are curious by nature and instinctively move toward bright petals, fresh greenery, and signs that a property owner invests time and attention into their land.

When they see plants being fed, groomed, and flourishing, Uppies do more than admire them. They choose to live there.

A property filled with healthy, growing plants boosts your Resident Score. As neighborhoods collectively embrace Life, the combined care becomes a signal that attracts even more Uppies to your community. In short, players who want to welcome more Uppies will find that cultivating healthy plants is the key to standing out.

Planting Your Seeds

Planting in Phase 2 is designed to be simple and intuitive.

  • Open the Seed Tab in your asset wallet.
  • Select the seed you want to plant and choose Plant.
  • Pick the property where you want the seed to go.
  • A fully grown preview of the plant will appear to help you plan placement and design.
  • Adjust the location, confirm the position, and your seed is officially planted. Sprouts will begin to appear.

Each placement decision adds personality to your land, and Uppies take notice of properties where care and creativity are visible.

Keeping Plants Alive: Health and Wellbeing

Once a seed is planted, its survival depends on the attention players give it. Plants are not just decorative objects. They grow, react, and rely on consistent care, creating a dynamic environment that Uppies can sense and appreciate. To keep your plants thriving, you’ll need to understand the two core systems that support their growth, Health and Wellbeing.

Health — Health is maintained by feeding your plants with Protem, which will soon transition to Stem. Health represents a plant’s essential nourishment, similar to watering. Keeping Health topped up ensures the plant has the core resources it needs to continue growing.

Wellbeing — Wellbeing improves when you pet your plants, which represents the everyday care they need, such as grooming, pruning, and maintaining proper conditions. Petting signals ongoing attention, helping the plant stay balanced and healthy. Strong wellbeing slows health decay, while poor wellbeing causes health to decline more quickly.

If both are neglected for too long, a plant will wither and be lost permanently.

Uppies pay close attention to properties where plants are kept healthy and cared for, and players who maintain these systems will naturally create environments that attract more Uppies to their land and neighborhoods.

Feeding Your Plants

Feeding is the core action that keeps your plants healthy and growing. You can feed plants in two ways:

1. Feeding a plant on the property — Tap a plant to open its full screen. From there, you can feed it directly or choose to uproot it if needed. Uprooting is permanent, so players should use this option carefully.

2. Feeding all plants globally — The new Plants Tab in your asset wallet allows you to feed all of your plants at once, making it easier to manage larger gardens.

Each planttype has its own feeding window, so players will naturally learn the timing and behavior of every species they choose to grow. The better you understand your plants, the stronger and healthier your gardens become.

Caring for Your Plants

While feeding keeps a plant alive, caring for it strengthens its overall wellbeing. This care is expressed through petting, a simple yet meaningful interaction that helps plants feel tended to. Petting represents the small but important acts of maintenance plants need, and it plays a key role in keeping them thriving over time.

Petting your plants is interactive and can be performed by any player.

To pet a plant players will simply need to long press the plant to pet it. The plant will move slightly to confirm it has been cared for. Neighbors, visitors, and friends can pet your plants at any time

In the future, petting may also reward players with occasional Trove drops. This shared interaction brings neighborhoods to life and encourages community participation, something Uppies notice and appreciate as they choose where to settle.

Life and Property Development Moving Forward

Life Phase 2 builds directly on Upland’s core pillars of property ownership, development, and player-driven value. Plants introduce a living layer to these systems, turning properties into dynamic spaces that grow, change, and influence how neighborhoods evolve.

By planting, feeding, and caring for your greenery, you shape both the appearance and the strategic value of your land. Healthy plants strengthen Resident Scores, increase neighborhood activity, and add new considerations for how players evaluate and trade properties.

Phase 2 marks the start of a deeper integration between Life and property development. As these systems expand, players who engage with plant care will help create communities thatfeelactive, connected, and truly alive.
