Kansas City & Rutherford Release Update
**UPDATE**
The release of Kansas City and Rutherford has been pushed to the following day. Both cities will be released on Thursday, September 23rd, at 8:00 AM PT.
-
This Thursday September 23rd, at 8:00 AM PT we will be fully releasing both Kansas City & Rutherford cities. They will be opened in the following stages:
8:00 AM - Open Raytown neighborhood in Kansas City
8:20 AM - Open Rutherford and East Rutherford excluding the exclusive street collections
8:40 AM - Open all remaining properties in both cities, excluding Ultra Rare collection properties.
There will be a 5 minute warning given before each stage of the release. Make sure you follow the #upland-updates channel for these announcements.
Note: City releases are highly competitive and the high volume of player activity may cause slightly degraded performance.
Common Concerns
We have seen your concerns during the Kansas City stress tests and want to provide an update on a few of them in preparation of tomorrow’s release.
Captcha
Captcha is turned on for all city releases and will be live during the release. While some players may find this frustrating, it is implemented to help keep the release secure and discourages the use of bots.
Minting Properties
Minting properties during a city release can be very competitive. Oftentimes there are many players attempting to mint the same property at the same time. This results in one player successfully minting and other players receiving notification that the property has already been minted. If this happens to you don’t give up, city releases are highly competitive and players aren’t always able to get the properties they want. If you were indeed the first to mint, ownership of that property will be assigned to you.
Property States
As city openings become more and more competitive, there may be situations where different servers on our backend take a few seconds to replicate the state of minted properties from the blockchain. This may result in situations where property color-codes may appear to alternate between states (green to blue, blue to grey, etc.). We are working to make this issue less prevalent, however, this behavior may persist from time to time during city openings.
Vanilla vs Non-Vanilla
City openings are a debate we’ve seen happening in the community. With the recent stress tests there has been an assumption that some of the issues experienced would be solved if the cities move to Vanilla openings. To clarify, this is not the case. The issues we saw from the Kansas City stress tests had nothing to do with whether or not they were in Vanilla mode. We have a team dedicated to improving the infrastructure of Upland and are working relentlessly to upgrade the experience for everyone.
We are excited for tomorrow’s release and hope that you’ll get ready to come join us in either of these two new additions to Upland!
