Introducing Troves: The Next Piece of the Upland Puzzle
November 12, 2025

At its core, Upland has always been about property ownership, development, and trading. It’s a game built on the value of what you own, and what you choose to build with it. Now, we’re taking that foundation further.
We’re excited to introduce Troves, a new feature currently in development that brings deeper strategy, more utility, and fresh gameplay tied directly to your properties, structures, and neighborhoods.
What Are Troves?
Troves are fungiblein-game items earned by playing Upland. They represent the output of services, goods, and cultural activity across neighborhoods. But more than that, they’re the key to engaging with Residents, completing quests, andunlocking new layers of interactionthrough Uppies.

How Do You Collect Troves?
Troves will be earned by sending your Block Explorer to specific locations, similar to how Sends have worked. They’ll spawn at certain structures like cafés, fire stations, and markets. Each type of building will generate its own type of Trove.
Players can also earn Troves by taking specific actions in the game, like caring for your plants when life goes live, or interacting with other upcoming in-game systems. As Upland grows, new types of Troves will continue to be introduced, making for limitless combinations and dynamic quest opportunities.
Whether you’re caring for your plants or sending your explorer across town to hit multiple service structures, you’re building your Trove inventory, and positioning yourself to unlock bigger rewards.
The Uppie Loop: Befriend, Fulfill, Repeat
Troves are directly tied to a much larger system in development: Befriending Uppies
Here’s how it works:
- Residents in Upland have specific needs.
- They’ll make requests that must be fulfilled to keep them happy.
- Fulfilling residents’ requests opens opportunities to befriend Uppies.
Fulfilling these requests keeps Residents happy, which in turn helps your neighborhood thrive and become more attractive to future Residents. The stronger your neighborhood, the more gameplay opportunities it unlocks, fueling growth across the broader Upland ecosystem.
These requests may require visiting multiple locations across a neighborhood, and collecting specific amounts of the right Troves.
For example, an Uppie might request:
- 5 Coffees
- 3 Milks
- 2 Fire Extinguishers
Once collected, these Troves can be spent to complete Uppie quests. Fulfilling these requests helps you befriend new Uppies.
The more structures you own, and the better you understand the neighborhood, the stronger your position. Having multiple buildings in a city gives you a clear edge, letting you complete quests faster, more efficiently, and with fewer sends.
Most Troves will be account-bound, meaning they’re earned and used by you alone. However, a few specific types of Troves will be tradable, introducing a new layer of economic strategy to the system.
While Service Structures and in-game actions are key sources of Troves, additional systems currently in development (like farming) will also play a role in how these items are produced and collected. Stay tuned for more details soon.
The Road Ahead
This is the start of something bigger. Troves are designed to connect your structures, actions, and Residents into a cohesive gameplay loop that rewards strategy, ownership, and engagement.
As we get closer to launch, we’ll share more details about how Troves, Uppies, and quests will evolve. For now, just know this:
Troves are coming. Uppies are waiting. And your neighborhood is about to get a whole lot livelier! Stay tuned.
