Introducing the Upland Kart Open: A New Weekly Racing Opportunity

A new way to get started with racing is coming to Upland!

The Upland Kart Open is a free weekly contest designed for new and developing racers who want to try competitive racing in a fun, accessible format. Each Kart Open will run alongside the Pro Racing Championship, using the same track and the same weekly competition window.

There is no season-long leaderboard, championship standing, or long-term commitment. Every week is a fresh contest and a new opportunity to race.

New to racing or looking for tips? Head to the Race Chat channel in the Upland app or on Discord to meet other racers, ask questions, and learn how to get started.

The Kart Open will run across five weekly contests across the following speedways:

Update: The track for the first week was found to have an error on it. We have now switched toGoose Island 1097 N Cherry Ave, Chicagoas the first week’s race track.

  • August 6–10: Tyner Zephyr
  • August 13–17: Road Rager Square
  • August 20–24: Rancho Oakey
  • August 27–31: Do Galeao
  • September 3–7: Country Club Drive

Each weekly contest runs from Thursday at 9:00 AM PT through Monday at 9:00 AM PT, with the following prize pool awarded every week:

  • 1st Place: 25,000 UPX
  • 2nd Place: 15,000 UPX
  • 3rd Place: 10,000 UPX

Here’s everything you need to know before you hit the track.

Free to Enter

The Kart Open has no registration fee.

Each weekly contest will run from Thursday at 9:00 AM PT through Monday at 9:00 AM PT, matching the Pro Racing Championship qualifying window.

Racers will compete on the same community-created track featured in that week’s championship event, bringing the whole racing community together around one schedule and one course.

How It Works

The weekly Kart Open leaderboard will be ranked by each racer’s fastest single completed run.

Unless otherwise announced for a specific race, all Kart Open events will follow these standard requirements:

  • MPS: 80
  • Race Type: Both private and public races count
  • Power-Ups: Not permitted

These requirements may change from race to race to mix things up. Any changes will be announced before that week’s contest begins; otherwise, the standard requirements above will apply.

Racers may make unlimited attempts during the contest window, giving everyone the chance to learn the track, practice their lines, and improve their best time.

Results will be announced each Monday and prizes will be awarded.

Weekly Prize Pool

The top three Kart Open racers each week will receive:

  • 1st Place: 25,000 UPX
  • 2nd Place: 15,000 UPX
  • 3rd Place: 10,000 UPX

The top three times will also be featured on the Commissioner Stream alongside that week’s championship results.

Each week stands on its own. Once one contest ends, the leaderboard resets and the next Kart Open begins on a new track.

Built for New Racers

The Kart Open is intended to provide a welcoming, low-stakes introduction to Upland racing.

It is a place to learn how racing events work, gain experience on community-created tracks, improve through repeated attempts, and compete for weekly prizes without paying a registration fee.

Racers who have posted a time in the Sizzle Season Pro Racing Championship may still participate in the Kart Open for fun and post times to the leaderboard. However, their times will not count toward the official Kart Open standings, and they will not be eligible for weekly prizes.
