We’re excited to announce that UGC royalties are now live, offering a fantastic way for our User-Generated Content (UGC) community to earn UPX for their creations.

Players have just received their first royalties, retroactively applied to all secondary sales as announced last year, reaping the rewards of their creativity! Upland is the perfect place for UGC because each item can be utilized by third-party developers through Upland’s Community Dev Tools. This creates more meaningful experiences that add value to both the creator and the broader community.

UGC Creator Royalty Details

Every transaction in a Metaventure or Showroom comes with a 5% transaction fee. This fee sends UPX to the Community Pool, which funds various activities and rewards such as Treasure Hunts. The new UGC royalties reallocate 50% of this 5% transaction fee directly to the UGC creator.

The “creator” is the manufacturer who produced the item in an Upland Factory. Distributing UGC royalties in this way provides valuable UPX for creators without imposing an additional tax on purchasers.

UGC royalties apply to UGC Structure Ornaments, Outdoor Decor, and Karts sold in Metaventures and Showrooms on the secondary market. In the future, as more player-manufactured items are released, they will also be included.

Royalties are distributed to creators monthly. Any manufactured UGC Structure Ornaments, Outdoor Decor and Karts — past, present, and future — generate these royalties, providing sustained UPX royalties for the creator!

Just The Beginning

The new UGC royalties are all about supporting the UGC community and making Upland an exciting place for designers. Uplandme, Inc. receives no funding from UGC royalties; 100% of the UPX royalties go to the creator.

Initially, UGC creators will collect royalties for Structure Ornaments, Outdoor Decor & Karts. In the future, more types of UGC will also be eligible for creator royalties.

As the Genesis Season approaches, we’re thrilled to introduce the latest edition to Season Passes. The all-new Genesis Season Pass.

This season is particularly special, as it includes random drops of a unique collector’s item — the “Gold” season pass. While this exclusive Gold pass doesn’t grant any extra benefits if burned, its rarity makes it a coveted collectible for dedicated players.

Season Pass Overview

The Genesis Season Pass grants players access to weekly cosmetic item drops throughout the duration of the season. These cosmetics allow players to enhance their in-game appearance and assets, fostering a deeper sense of individuality within the Upland community.

To participate, simply purchase the Season Pass and activate it by burning the pass. This one-time activation ensures eligibility for all weekly drops of the season. Additionally, the Season Pass includes a season-specific badge, boosting the player’s in-game prestige.

Each week, a snapshot of eligible players is taken at 9 AM PT on Tuesday. Only players who have activated their Season Pass (burning it) by this time will receive that week’s cosmetic drop as well as a special badge for the season. A single pass burn per season is sufficient to secure all subsequent weekly cosmetic items.

• Exclusivity: Items received through the Season Pass are unique to each season and cannot be obtained in any other way.
• Non-Tradability: These cosmetic items are not NFTs and are tied directly to the player’s Upland account, meaning they cannot be sold or traded.
• Mystery Drops: Cosmetic items are dropped every Tuesday, with specifics remaining a mystery until the drop, adding an element of surprise and anticipation.
• Irreplaceability: If a player misses a weekly drop, there is no way to obtain those items in the future, making each drop a now-or-never opportunity.

Last Season’s Highlights

In the previous season, Upland introduced a variety of new cosmetic items, including Animated Block Explorer Overlays, Speech Bubbles, Block Explorer backgrounds, and both standard and animated Property Card Backgrounds. These items were exclusive to Blossom Season Pass holders and are now unattainable, highlighting the unique value of participating in each season’s offerings.
