Full Steam Ahead: Bringing the Upland Map to Life

Genesis Week has been all about one message: Full Steam Ahead.

And as this year’s Genesis Week comes to a close, we are ending with a reveal that points directly to the future of Upland.

From the beginning, Upland has been built around property ownership, development, and the idea that players are not just collecting locations on a map, they are helping shape a living world. Every structure built, every neighborhood developed, every business opened, and every community formed has added another layer to what Upland can become. Now, we are preparing for the next major layer of that vision.

Today, we are excited to share one of the biggest forward-looking features we have ever shown: 3D movement on the Upland map is now in active development.

This is a major step toward making Upland more alive, more immersive, and more personal than ever before. The properties players own and develop will not simply sit on the map, they will have the potential to show activity, personality, and life.

This is not just a visual update. It is a new layer of life for Upland!

What Is 3D Movement?

3D movement on the map is a new way for living elements in Upland to appear, move, and create activity directly on player properties and throughout the world.

Instead of certain features existing only as static objects or icons, 3D movement allows them to become visible, animated parts of the map experience. These elements can move in real time, bring personality to properties, and help make neighborhoods more active and alive.

This opens the door to a more dynamic Upland world, where the things players build, collect, assign, and interact with can become part of the visual life of the map itself.

Uppies Will Bring Properties to Life

One of the first major examples of 3D movement on the map will be Uppies.

When assigned to a property, Uppies will move around that space in 3D and in real time, bringing new activity, personality, and life to the places players own and develop.

Players will see activity throughout their properties as Uppies move around and care for plants, adding charm, personality, and a sense of daily life to neighborhoods across Upland.

Players will be able to assign their unique Uppies to properties, where they will move around in 3D and bring new activity to the space. By default, an assigned unique Uppie will be represented on the map as a generic Uppie.

Preview only. Final design is subject to change.

Players who want their unique Uppie’s distinct look to appear on the property will be able to enhance it. Once enhanced, that Uppie will always appear as its unique self wherever it is assigned.

That enhancement stays with the Uppie forever. No matter who owns it in the future, or which property it is assigned to, the enhanced Uppie will continue to showas its unique version on the map.

This is where the future gets exciting. Over time, enhancement opens the door for thousands of truly unique Uppies moving in 3D across Upland, each adding its own personality to the properties, neighborhoods, and cities players are building. It is a major step toward making the map more alive, more personal, and more unmistakably shaped by the community.

Stay tuned for more details on how the enhancement process will work in future updates.

Preview only. Final design is subject to change.

Animals

3D movement will also extend to animals, bringing a new layer of activity to the structures and properties players build for them.

When movement arrives in Upland, animals will be able to move around inside their assigned properties and structures in 3D and in real time. Horses may walk or trot around a horse stable. Cows may graze on a ranch. Pigs may move through a pig pen. Chickens may do what chickens do inside a chicken coop.

Preview only. Final design is subject to change.

These moments may seem small on their own, but together they represent something much bigger: developed properties becoming more active, expressive, and alive. A stable will not just be a structure on the map. A ranch will not just be a building. These spaces will have movement, personality, and life happening inside them.

As more animals and structures come into Upland, players will begin to see their properties reflect the worlds they are building in a more visible and dynamic way.

Tune In Tonight

Tonight, at 6pm PT Upland co-founders Dirk Lueth and Idan Zuckerman will appear on the 2Stupid4Web3 podcast to discuss this reveal, the future of Upland, and the major announcements from Genesis Week.

Genesis Week may be coming to a close, but the next era of Upland is just getting started!

A Major Step Into the Future of Upland

This feature is currently in active development, and it represents a major new direction for the Upland experience.

3D movement on the map is about more than animation. It is about adding personality, culture, and life to the world players are building together. It is about making neighborhoods active. It is about giving properties more character. It is about continuing to move Upland forward in a way that makes the world richer and more immersive.

Genesis Week has shown the direction we are heading. Players have helped test the Trove system, the community has come together around major new features and quality-of-life updates, and now we are looking ahead to the rest of 2026 and 2027 with one message:

Upland is Full Steam Ahead!
