Blossom Season Is Here, and Ownership in Upland Is About to Evolve!

Everything in Upland starts with property. Owning it, building on it, and creating value through it. That foundation isn’t changing, but it is expanding in a big way.

We’ve been building toward this moment for a long time, and it’s finally here. During Blossom Season, Life will officially go live. At launch, players will be able to plant, grow, and manage plants directly on their properties, with more systems expanding over time.

This isn’t just a feature drop. It’s a fundamental shift. Properties are no longer just static assets to hold or trade. They’re becoming living, evolving spaces that can be cultivated, enhanced, and woven deeper into Upland’s player-driven economy.

This will be the first real step toward transforming property ownership into something far more interactive and far more strategic.

Say Hello to STEM

To power Life, we need the right fuel. STEM is used to care for and feed your plants, helping them grow, develop, and evolve over time as seasons change. That’s why over the next two weeks, we’ll be preparing for life by converting Protem into STEM, the official currency that drives everything Life touches in Upland. This conversion will happen automatically.

If you’re holding Protem right now, you’re already ahead. Every single Protem you own will convert at a rate of 1 Protem = 1,000 STEM. Once Life goes live, STEM will also become permanently available in the Upland Store at a base rate of $1 = 1,000 STEM, just like UPX has its own store presence.

Now here’s where STEM is different. STEM is not tradeable, and it won’t ever be. Think of it as fuel. It exists to create Life. Unlike UPX, STEM isn’t pegged to anything, and Upland may adjust how much STEM it costs to ensure gameplay stays balanced as Life expands.

It’s ever-inflationary by design because the goal is simple: more Life, everywhere, all the time.

We’ll be watching closely how the community uses STEM, and will make any necessary adjustments over time. We’re also building out a Trove system that will help players earn STEM through gameplay. More details on that are coming soon.

Here’s something you don’t want to miss. Right now, before the conversion happens, this is your last chance to pick up Protem for free as a bonus with UPX. Once Protem becomes STEM, all future STEM will only be available as standalone purchases. No more freebies.

Map Assets Just Got a Whole Lot Smoother

While we’re at it, we’ve got one more thing dropping this week that’s going to make a lot of players very happy.

Beginning Thursday, whenever you purchase a map asset from a Metaventure or Showroom, that asset will be instantly removed from the property and delivered straight to your wallet. No more waiting. No more having to place it first. Instead, you’ll see a green “Place” button right there in your wallet, and when you’re ready, you drop it on whatever property you want.

This is a big quality-of-life improvement for both buyers and sellers. Sellers no longer have unclaimed items sitting on their properties, and buyers get immediate ownership the second they purchase. Even better, this change also sets the stage for the upcoming Store redesign, which will allow some permanent map assets to be sold directly in the Upland Store for UPX.

And for anyone who has leftover assets still sitting on properties from past purchases, like MV Motors and others, don’t worry. Over the coming weeks, those will be automatically sent to your asset wallet.
