Collection Rework: Part 2
Last month, we implemented a change to collections that reduced the visual clutter of collection chips and added a new distinction between “active” and “inactive” collections. Today, we are proceeding with part 2 of this update, which means that all collections that are Limited rarity and higher will be subject to a holding period before their one-time bonus is awarded.
Collection Holding Periods
Previously, players were awarded a collection’s one-time UPX bonus immediately after completion of the collection. Now, players will have to hold their properties in a collection for a fixed period of time before that bonus is awarded. It is important to note, however, that players will still gain access to boosted earnings regardless of the holding period. In other words, this change only applies to the one-time bonus, not boosted earnings. Depending on the rarity, each collection will be subject to a different holding period as outlined below:
- Standard Collections: No Timer
- Limited Collections: 7 Days
- Exclusive Collections: 21 Days
- Rare Collections: 30 Days
- Ultra-Rare Collections: 30 Days
As the Upland economy continues to mature, it’s imperative that we continually re-evaluate existing mechanics to protect the integrity of the economy and create a fair environment for all players. This change will reduce of the speed at which UPX can be extracted from utilization of this mechanic and will make it much harder for bad actors to abuse UPX rewards. We will continue to monitor the impact of this change and will adjust accordingly to ensure a healthy balance of UPX distribution via collection rewards.
